Already winner of Croatia, Saturday for its first match in the 2020-2021 Nations League (4-1), Portugal continued its good momentum, even if it was less imposing, this Tuesday evening against Sweden.

In fact, the team led by Fernando Santos has been able to rely on the one capable of making a difference when he wants to: Cristiano Ronaldo. Absent in the previous meeting due to a foot infection, he was expected at the turn when he counted, at kick-off, 99 goals in the jersey of the Portuguese selection.

Ronaldo responded present

And he did not disappoint. Just before the end of the first period (45th), with a shot from around thirty meters, he deceived Robin Olsen, at the same time scoring the famous 100th goal of his international career. And since he doesn’t like to do things like the others, Ronaldo did not stop there. Following a service from João Félix just entering the area, Cristiano Ronaldo armed a sudden strike from the right, sending the ball under the crossbar of Olsen to double the bet (72nd).

The Juventus Turin player could even have scored a hat-trick a few minutes later (75th), but Olsen repelled the Lusitanian’s cross shot (76th). In the 80th minute of play, Ronaldo was replaced by Jota.

Regardless, with his 100 and 101st goals, Ronaldo carried Portugal, who for his part pocketed a second victory in as many games in this Nations League 2020-2021. On October 11, France will take on a confident Portugal.
