The The Daily News Box (MSP), through the National Directorate of Disabilities and the General Coordination of Legal Advice, to date, has presented forty-two (42) complaints against officials of the institution and one hundred and eighty-three (183 ) to citizens, regarding the irregular issuance of disability cards nationwide.

The MSP continues firm in its fight against corruption, as it has provided information in a timely manner to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) to carry out the respective investigations.

The National Directorate of Disabilities works daily on audits of cases that are presumed to have irregularities, thanks to the support of technical teams that are located in the zonal coordination, 1, 5, 6, 8 and 9. In total there are thirty (30) people who work in these processes, among doctors, psychologists and social workers.

This human team currently attends eighty (80) requests for information requested by various institutions, including the Ecuadorian Institute of Social Security (IESS), National Customs Service of Ecuador (Senae), Council of the Judiciary (CJ), National Police and Armed Forces.

The staff is in charge of investigating and reviewing the clinical records of each person, medical records and certificates, personal data and complementary tests, to detect possible deficiencies in the documentation.

Fulfilling this institutional responsibility, on September 9, for example, the MSP submitted a new complaint to the FGE for the irregular issuance and use of disability cards. In this particular case, 17 officials of the MSP and 20 of the CJ were singled out for presumption of falsification and use of false documents, in accordance with article 328 of the Comprehensive Organic Criminal Code (COIP).

This State portfolio reiterates its commitment to collaborate with all the institutions of the country, in order to clarify alleged criminal acts, in order to guarantee the transparency of the services and competences that this National Health Authority has.
