Tottenham and Chelsea faced each other on Tuesday evening for the 8th in the League Cup. The battle was disputed between the two neighbors, and it was only in the penalty shootout that they were able to decide. It was the Spurs who had the last word in being more skillful in this exercise. While he said at a press conference that this competition was not one of his goals, José Mourinho can be proud of his men. The latter saved him the humiliation of being eliminated against his former player, Frank Lampard.

Spurs may dream of a trophy

In this meeting, the Blues had yet led to the score for more than an hour. Timo Werner gave his team the advantage in the 19th minute. The visitors held this advantage until the 83rd minute and an equalizer signed by Erik Lamela. On penalties, Mason Mount missed his try on the Chelsea side. Tottenham are now only two games away from a possible Wembley final. As a reminder, the League Cup is the last trophy Tottenham won. That was already eighteen years ago.
