A great team never loses twice in a row, it seems. Bayern proved that it was one by dominating Borussia Dortmund in the German Supercup on Wednesday, three days after their rout against Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga (1-4). Facing their sworn enemy, Hansi Flick’s men had a lot to do but they ended up winning the bet.
And five for Bayern!
This is Bayern’s 8th success in this German Supercup, and also the 5th major title in this exceptional year 2020. The Munich raid continues, and they could complete the grand slam next December by going to conquer the Club World Cup.

Each of the two teams had their half, but Borussia were unable to exploit theirs well. Lucien Favre’s team has certainly recovered two goals from their rival, but they cracked towards the end on an achievement by Joshua Kimmich. In the 82nd minute, the German international gave the victory to his team by beating Hitz with a full axis recovery and in two stages. Originally, it was a lost ball near the central circle that started the action of the Bavarians. An error which therefore spoiled all the efforts previously made by Reus and his teammates.
Haaland missed the match point
Corentin Tolisso, of a recovery in force following a cross from Robert Lewandowski (18th), then Thomas Muller, with a victorious helmet blow at the reception of a service from Alphonso Davies (32nd), gave an advantage of two goals for the Bavarians. It was then difficult to see the BVB coming back, but the “Schwarzgelben” drew on their resources to revive. Erling Haaland signed two decisive gestures to allow his team to return to the match. First a pass for Brandt (39th), then a goal in the 54th. The Norwegian could then have scored his team’s third goal, but he stumbled over Manuel Neuer (60th). It was the turning point of the game. At the final whistle, the Scandinavian must have bitterly regretted this missed opportunity.
