The Government of Spain, through its diplomatic mission in Ecuador, delivered two contributions to the The Daily News Box (MSP). The first, a donation of 14,200 units of medicine, “Rocuronium Bromide”, with an investment of 50 thousand euros. In addition to the financing of USD 40 thousand for the acquisition of materials and medical devices, which will strengthen comprehensive care in three health homes, in Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas and Manabí.
In this way, both countries affirm good international relations and cooperation that will serve to combat the emergency caused by COVID-19.
The event was held in the Hall of the Próceres of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, which was chaired by its head, Luis Gallegos, together with Xavier Solórzano, Vice Minister of Governance and Health Surveillance; the ambassador of Spain in Ecuador, Carlos Abella y de Arístegui; Carla Cohí, Economic and Commercial Head of the Embassy of Spain and Ambassador César Montaño, delegate of the Foreign Ministry to the Binational Committee of the Debt Exchange Program.
Foreign Minister Gallegos highlighted Spain’s commitment, despite the fact that it was one of the first countries affected by COVID-19. “These actions of generosity are remarkable, even more so in this time of pandemic. The Government of Spain is an important partner in international cooperation ”, he assured.
For access to resources through the Ecuador – Spain Debt Exchange Program (PCDEE), the authorities made the assistance official with the signing of the agreement between the authorities present.
Vice Minister Solórzano thanked the Spanish people and government for their contribution. “It is a joint effort between both countries. We are very grateful for the spirit of solidarity and cooperation that has been maintained for many years, ”he said. He also explained that the drug Rocuronium Bromide will be used in Intensive Care Units for patients with COVID-19.
The Gustavo Domínguez General Hospitals in Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas; Rodríguez Zambrano and Verdi Cevallos, from Manabí, will receive the corresponding sanitary equipment, according to the needs raised by each zonal coordination.
