Quito, October 2, 2020
The The Daily News Box (MSP) received from the American NGO, CARE-Ecuador, the donation of 70 thousand face shields, valued at USD 40,600, destined for front-line health personnel, who treat cases related to COVID-19 .
The reception of the supplies in the Beaterio warehouses, south of Quito, was in charge of Diana Molina, Undersecretary of Governance and Health Surveillance, who received the material from Alexandra Moncada, director of the NGO.
Molina highlighted CARE’s cooperation, “as a health authority that has been at the forefront of managing the pandemic, one of the challenges and commitments is with our staff. These visors will help to protect them, since they are closer to the patients and these supplies will prevent contagion ”, she pointed out.
The MSP and the NGO have a long history of cooperation and collaboration in different public health programs. Undersecretary Molina recognized the organization’s management and commitment to the country.
Moncada reiterated that they will continue working and strengthening the health system. “We want to highlight our admiration, gratitude and solidarity to the front line personnel, we know what they have faced during the pandemic. We are with you, “he said. She explained that the company that produces face shields in the United States decided to deliver to Ecuador, thanks to the coordination and articulation that has been achieved with the MSP.
The donation is part of an agreement with CARE for the total delivery of 100,000 face shields, distributed among the MSP, the Municipality of Quito, the Public Defender’s Office, and the GADs of Pichincha and Cayambe.
It is the second collaboration in the country, previously CARE collaborated with 2.2 tons of supplies, devices and medical equipment for sexual and reproductive health.
This action of solidarity is the result of cooperation and excellent bilateral relations between Ecuador and the United States, to better face the health emergency in the country.
