After that of Adrien Rabiot, the French team has just recorded the defection of another element, in this case Léo Dubois. The Olympique Lyonnais side tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. He was immediately placed in isolation, before being sent back to his club. The Blues will therefore have to do without him in the matches against Ukraine (Wednesday), Portugal (Sunday) and Croatia (following Wednesday). The former Nantes resident had however carried out a test prior to the rally and it had been found to be negative.
Ferland Mendy called in for reinforcement
To compensate for this last-minute package, the coach Didier Deschamps called on Real Madrid member Ferland Mendy. The latter is however a left-back, unlike Dubois. Disappointing during the two matches in September, the former Lyonnais had not been summoned initially this time. He will therefore have the opportunity to relaunch and regain the confidence of his coach.
Press release from the FFF
Léo Dubois will not participate in France-Ukraine, Wednesday evening at 9:10 p.m. at the Stade de France, nor in France-Portugal, Sunday at 8:45 p.m. at the Stade de France, nor in Croatia-France, three days later in Zagreb (8:45 p.m.).
His Covid-19 test carried out by UEFA on Tuesday morning turned out to be positive, Léo Dubois was placed in solitary confinement, after receiving the results, at the end of training, this Tuesday evening, October 6 .
Like the whole delegation, Léo Dubois had undergone a test prior to the rally. The result was negative. The OL defender will leave the group and join Lyon.
Coach Didier Deschamps has decided to recall Ferland Mendy. The Real Madrid defender will join the squad after France-Ukraine.
