Teruel GP: Marquez still absent

ByRoborto Sykes

Oct 20, 2020
Still no Marc Marquez on the horizon. Absent since his fall during the very first meeting of the MotoGP season, in Jerez during the Spanish GP (first victory for Fabio Quartararo in the premier class), the Spanish rider will fail again this weekend during the Teruel Grand Prix (23 to 25 October), 11th round of the season of this revised World Championship due to the Covid-19 pandemic. On Tuesday, four days before the start of free practice on the same Motorland circuit that had seen Marquez teammate Alex Rins win in the GP of Aragon, Honda announced that the return to competition of its boss of file would not be for this weekend yet. The quadruple reigning world champion already certain to give up his crown this year will therefore miss his tenth meeting in a row. And this weekend, like the previous ones, Alex Marquez’s brother will once again give up his place on the bike to the German Stefan Bradl.

Still no return date for Marquez and the end of the season is approaching …

For how much longer ? As after each formalization of the package – expected – of the native of Cervera (Lerida), the next round of the season should allow us to know more. It will take place at the beginning of November (6 to 8), again in Spain, in Valence, on the Ricardo Tormo circuit for the European Grand Prix, the first act of the triptych which will then lead the pilots to … Valence then to the Portugal (Algarve) at the end of the season. Without any guarantee that it marks the great comeback of Marquez, especially since no date seems to have been set for the moment for the champion at a standstill since this injury to the right arm contracted at the start of the season. Neither by Honda nor by the six-time star in MotoGP himself. Since the fall of the Spaniard, many seem convinced that we will not see him again this season. Marquez will end up proving them right.
