Ostrava: Mertens negotiates his entry into contention perfectly

A clean and flawless victory. This Wednesday, the Belgian Elise Mertens, 21st player in the world and seeded No. 7, qualified for the second round of the WTA Premier tournament in Ostrava in the Czech Republic, played on hard indoor, at the expense of the American Amanda Anisimova, 30th player in the world, in two sets (6-2, 6-3) and 1h13 of play. In the first set, the turning point came in the second game, when the Belgian was then forced to save two break points. Because, in the wake, she managed to break her opponent, on her second attempt, before breaking again, this time white, at 4-2, then concluding on her first set point (6-2).
