At 272 days before the Olympic Games, Tokyo continues its preparation. This Saturday, the Olympic aquatic center was inaugurated. If its construction had been completed in February, the big ceremony scheduled for its opening in March had been postponed because of the Covid-19. It was therefore in a small committee but with the presence of Governor Yuriko Koike and swimmer Rikako Ikee, national record holder in the 50-meter freestyle, that the 15,000-seat enclosure was able to officially open its doors. Built for the occasion, the aquatic center is located in the district of Koto where many events such as archery, volleyball or tennis will also take place..

If we do not yet know the conditions of access to the public stands, swimmers but also divers will be expected in the pools of the swimming pool from July 23 to August 8. The cost of the works was estimated at 457 million euros according to figures put forward by theAFP. To make this investment profitable, the Japanese authorities hope to attract up to one million visitors per year after the Olympic meeting next summer.
