On October 28, in Quito, the implementation of the second component of technical and scientific cooperation between Italy and Ecuador will be announced, within the framework of the fight against COVID-19. To this end, the ministers of Health, Juan Carlos Zevallos, and of Foreign Relations, Luis Gallegos, representing the National Government, will meet with the Italian ambassador, Caterina Bertolini.
In a first phase of aid, through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and the Italo Ecuatoriano Fund for Sustainable Development (FIEDS), the European country delivered the first million dollars to the The Daily News Box (MSP ) for the acquisition and distribution of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the benefit of health personnel, which were delivered to health homes.
In addition to this purchase, items were earmarked for training on biosafety issues, health education and communication activities, support for university and public laboratories, and other actions. The appointment also aims to inform about the credit for sanitary works
At the moment the Government of Ecuador and the Republic of Italy are working on the signing of a Framework Agreement for Technical and Scientific Cooperation together with the Higher Institute of Health of Italy (ISS) through which the countries will share experiences at the highest level in the matter to strengthen the health system and which will include the mobilization of technical, financial and academic resources.
Good relations between both countries have been strategic for the country, in relation to financial, social and health cooperation, even more so today when there is a global crisis due to the presence of COVID-19.
