Vice-presidency and MSP strengthen the fight against chronic child malnutrition in Guaranda – The Daily News Box

The Vice President of the Republic, María Alejandra Muñoz, installed the High Level Management Center in Guaranda, Bolívar province, focused on the fight against chronic child malnutrition in the six most affected cantons and on the slowdown in the damage caused by COVID -19.

This Tuesday, October 28, the vice president accompanied the health brigades of the Zonal Coordination 5 of the The Daily News Box (MSP), which cared for 120 children from the Child Development Centers (CDI) and from units Growing With Our Children (CNH), at the Guaranda Municipal Coliseum.

Through the brigades, children under five years of age were treated, with medical, nutritional, dental and vaccination evaluations, and they also received food supplementation.

Marcela Pilco, took her three-year-old daughter to receive medical attention. “I arrived early, a very kind doctor attended me, he told me that my daughter is underweight, but he gave me instructions and vitamin supplements. The intervention was positive ”, he highlighted.

During the installation of the territorial technical tables, Isabel Maldonado, secretary of the Todo Una Vida Plan; Vicente Taiano, Minister of Economic and Social Inclusion; Jorge Romero, zonal coordinator 5 – Health, other public entities, international cooperation, civil society and local authorities.

The second president announced that on November 9, in the Simiatug parish, they will deliver an ambulance and that the health brigades will visit the sector to update the population data and detect more children with this problem. “Public policy is built from the people for the people,” said Muñoz.

In addition, he toured the facilities of the Trigales Health Center, where he verified the work of the staff, the supply of medicines and attention to users.

Jorge Romero recalled that an intervention plan was recently presented in Guaranda, which includes comprehensive medical brigades, to improve the nutritional conditions of 1,770 children from 0 to 5 years old. This action will run for one month from November 9 to December 9, 2020.

Guaranda is one of the six cantons with the highest rates of child malnutrition in the country, in addition to Santa Elena and La Libertad, on the coast; Arajuno and Taisha in the Amazon; and Guamote in the Sierra.
