Amine Gouiri brings back a smile to Nice

A week after the debacle in Leverkusen (2-6), OGC Nice came to its senses by signing a rather laborious success this Thursday against Hapoel Beer Sheva (1-0). A victory which has the merit of replacing the Nice in this group stage of the Europa League.

Gouiri, the X factor

This encounter was closed and bitter, although the Eagles unlocked it fairly quickly on a lightning bolt. After a quarter of an hour of play, Youcef Atal made a perfect overflow to serve Amine Gouiri, whose control-strike sequence hit the mark (1-0, 14th). Patrick Vieira’s men then entered a phase of management which left the Israeli team in the loop. It could have gone wrong if Walter Benitez had not released the necessary stop just before the break, on a huge opportunity from Joshua (45th).

But the Niçois again confiscated the ball after returning from the locker room against an opponent with no idea. The Riviera club could even have doubled the stake in the last half hour, but Amine Gouiri, still dangerous, saw his head diverted by Levita (67th), the opposing goalkeeper then coming out the big game on an attempt by Kasper Dolberg (75th ). Without consequence. Nice reaped its first success in this European campaign after this match which, despite the camera, was marked by a minute of silence in tribute to the victims of the attack on the Basilica of Notre Dame de l’Assomption.
