In Cuenca, the collection of samples for the study of seroprevalence of COVID-19 began – The Daily News Box

The The Daily News Box (MSP), through the Zonal Coordination 6 of Health, began in Cuenca the seroprevalence study to detect the existence of antibodies against COVID-19 in the population greater than or equal to 18 years of age, by capturing of blood type tests.

The brigades began taking samples in the sectors: Virgen de Bronce, Totoracocha, Ordoñez Lazo, Industrial Park, Miraflores, Uncovia, Arenal, Control Sur, Don Bosco, Las Pencas, Pumapungo, among neighboring areas. The study is expected to be completed until Sunday, November 1.

This activity will include 2000 tests, which will be taken through 30 health brigades made up of a team of 71 people who are in the field, including support personnel and laboratory workers from the provinces of Azuay and Cañar, who were previously trained in handling of cartography, management of web applications for data collection and processing, biosafety (use of adequate protective clothing, reduction of risk of occupational contagion and general measures, highlighting hand washing), among other topics.

In addition, professionals from the Zonal Coordination 6 of Health, from the processes of Surveillance, Health Promotion, Provision of quality of services, Governance, Communication, financial administrative, data entry and personnel who are in the critical area for data verification.

Julio Molina Vázquez, Zonal 6 Health Coordinator, said “we continue in the fight against the pandemic, now we are executing a seroprevalence study, which consists of taking approximately 400 blood samples per day, which will be analyzed at the Vicente Corral Hospital Moscoso, in order to verify the amount of the population that is infected, also helps us to sweep and find out sources of contagion to be able to make a timely intervention by health teams, “he said.

Zonal Coordination 6, strengthens actions in the territory with the support of health personnel, in order to protect the health of each inhabitant and their family environment.
