Hard blow for Inter Milan. The Lombard club will have to do without its star striker Romelu Lukaku during his next domestic and continental outings. Injured during the Champions League match against Shakhtar (0-0), the former Mancunian had an MRI on Thursday morning and it was not very reassuring. He suffers from muscle fatigue and will have to take several days of rest.
In its statement, Inter did not specify the exact duration during which his center forward will be stopped, contenting themselves with indicating that his situation will be assessed on a daily basis. But it is already clear that Lukaku will miss the weekend’s match against Parma. And, it is highly doubtful for the double opposition against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Lukaku stopped in his tracks
Lukaku was in excellent shape at the start of the 2020/2021 fiscal year. Building on the momentum of the previous campaign, he had scored 7 goals in as many matches played in all competitions. In his absence, Antonio Conte, the nerazzurro coach, could align the young Andrea Pinamonti alongside Lautaro Martinez in attack.
