Blaise Matuidi is a soldier of the France team – a term he does not hesitate to use. His starting status at the 2018 World Cup in Russia gives him a special place in the group. But the midfielder made a choice of life by going into exile in MLS this summer to join David Beckham’s club Inter Miami. By leaving Juventus, Blaise Matuidi therefore moved away from the very high level required by Didier Deschamps to claim the France team. However, the former Parisian remains in phase with his coach: if everything is more difficult, nothing is definitely closed.

“If the coach has to call on me, he knows that I will answer this”

“By going there, I knew very well that the deal would not be the same, explained the world champion in remarks granted to Telefoot. For ten years, I was a very important part of the France team. When I made this choice, I knew that maybe it would change. It’s the case. I do not take the lead, I am good where I am. Afterwards, if the coach has to call on me, he knows that I will respond, as I always have. I am and I remain a soldier at the coach’s disposal. We’ll see. To draw a line today is premature. But I am aware of the difficulty “.
