Rolex Paris Masters: The painting

For the eighth time (only) in his career, Rafael Nadal will compete in the Rolex Paris Masters, which begins on Sunday and whose draw was made this Saturday noon. The Spaniard, who played only one final at Bercy, lost to David Nalbandian in 2007 for his first participation, will be the No. 1 seed in this third and last Masters 1000 of the season. And the draw, carried out electronically, placed him in the half of the table of Alexander Zverev, seeded n ° 4, which he could therefore face next Saturday if the logic is respected until then. Before that, Nadal will challenge Krajinovic or Lopez for his entry into the running, then could play Borna Coric in the round of 16 and David Goffin in the quarters, if there is no surprise of course. As for Zverev, he will have to get rid of Dimitrov, Wawrinka or Rublev if he hopes to reach the last four.

Half a Tsitsipas – Medvedev?

At the bottom of the table, the two best players are finally Stefanos Tsitsipas and Daniil Medveded, since Dominic Thiem, the world n ° 3, announced his withdrawal in the morning. Tsitsipas, if he wants to find the Russian in the semi-final, will have to beat before, if the logic is respected, Casper Ruud, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Matteo Berrettini. As for Medvedev, he will have Anderson, De Minaur and Schwartzman on his way if there are no surprises during the week. The Argentine, like Rublev and Berrettini, will aim at Bercy for one of the last two tickets for the London Masters, although, unlike usual, there will be another tournament the following week in Sofia.

Eight French in the table

As for the French, they are eight in the table (while waiting for possible players from the qualifications) and it is difficult to imagine that one of them will succeed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the last French winner at Bercy, in 2008. The best Blue at Roland Garros, Hugo Gaston, has received an invitation and will face Pablo Carreno Busta in the first round. Adrian Mannarino was also seeded in Grigor Dimitrov. For Gilles Simon (against Tommy Paul), Richard Gasquet (against Taylor Fritz), Pierre-Hugues Herbert (against Tennys Sandgren) or Ugo Humbert (against Casper Ruud), it seems more balanced, while Corentin Moutet or Benjamin Bonzi will face each other as for them a skilled or a lucky-loser.
